A Sober, Educational and Fun Vacation

Sam and I are notorious for being party animals. Our vacations were no different. Daily parties were always on the cards. This time round we decided to tone it down a bit. A vacation focusing on the rich cultural heritage of a destination was exactly what we needed. Most of the time a group of our friends and us would travel to the Caribbean. We would be so tired by the end of it that we would actually stay at home for a couple of days to recover from the constant revelry.

Sam took charge of finding such a vacation spot. He had suggested a place in the Greater Antilles, preferably the Dominican Republic. A friend of ours had been there and had recommended it as well due to its rich cultural heritage and numerous historic sites. It was however struck off our holiday list as there were too much options of partying available there.

We then decided to go to Curacao as Sam seemed to like the peace and tranquility that the place offered. It also had a rich cultural heritage. The white-sand beaches seemed heavenly. We would stay away from the nightlife and focus on the history of the place. The old building in Punda and Otrabanda in Curacao were well worth the visit. They reflected the rich cultural heritage of the place right from the time of the early settlers. Curacao’s geological history was also on display at the Hato Caves that we visited.

Now that we are back from Curacao, it definitely was one of the most amazing vacations that we have had in a very long time. Our friends were obviously surprised that we were capable of enjoying ourselves without partying. Now they have promised to accompany us on our next trip. We have all decided to try a spa vacation next time.
